All Flood Control Pumping Stations Now Fully Operational

The MMDA Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office has confirmed that all 72 pumping stations across Metro Manila are now fully operational ahead of the 2026 rainy season. Each station has undergone comprehensive maintenance, including pump motor overhaul, electrical system testing, and drainage channel dredging to ensure maximum efficiency during heavy rainfall events.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes personally inspected several key pumping stations in flood-prone areas including Alabang, Marikina, and Tondo. He noted that the agency has also pre-positioned rescue boats, water rescue teams, and emergency supplies at strategic locations throughout the metro. An additional 15 portable pumps have been acquired to supplement capacity in areas prone to flash flooding.

Residents in low-lying areas are encouraged to remain vigilant and monitor official MMDA advisories during heavy rainfall. The agency operates a 24/7 flood monitoring center that tracks water levels across all major waterways and drainage systems in Metro Manila. Citizens can report flooding incidents through the MMDA hotline 136 or via the official MMDA social media accounts.
